BRUCE DICKINSON's 'Chemical Weding Original Soundtrack' Due in May

April 11, 2008

UK's What Records will release "Chemical Wedding - Original Soundtrack" on May 19.

"Chemical Wedding" is a feature film written by IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson and long-time Monty Python editor Julian Doyle, who also directed the film. The film is a gothic sci-fi extravaganza set in Trinity College Cambridge, where a scientific experiment goes awry resulting in the resurrection of the infamous Edwardian occultist Aleister Crowley, who was immortalized into pop culture by the likes of THE BEATLES, Jimmy Page and Ozzy Osbourne. The soundtrack includes two tracks from IRON MAIDEN and two tracks from Bruce.

"Chemical Wedding - Original Soundtrack" track listing is as follows:

01. Chemical Wedding - BRUCE DICKINSON
02. Hush Hush Here Comes the Bogie Man - HENRY HALL / VAL ROSING.
03. Fanlight Fanny - GEORGE FORMBY
04. Man of Sorrows - BRUCE DICKINSON
05. Wickerman - IRON MAIDEN
06. Can I Play With Madness - IRON MAIDEN
07. Separation - SKIN
08. Une Faune Apres Midi - DEBUSSY
09. The Alleluya Chorus - HANDLE
10. (Excerpt) Violin Concerto - MOZART

"Chemical Wedding" will premiere at the London International Festival of Science Fiction and Fantastic Film at the Apollo West End Cinema in London on May 4. The film will also be unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival in May. "Chemical Wedding" will then be released in British cinemas in the summer.

"Chemical Wedding" wrapped principal photography in September with Julian Doyle at the helm. The film stars Simon Callow as a reincarnation of Crowley, once dubbed "the most evil man in Britain." Callow's character, Haddo, is a shy, stuttering professor.

"My experience with stages is obviously IRON MAIDEN and that sort of stuff," Bruce said. "I've directed a few videos over the course of my rock 'n' roll past and I enjoyed them, I enjoyed directing videos. Writing movies a completely different thing. I wrote a couple of absurd comic novels that came out as well, and you know, they did OK actually. So, writing is something that's always sort of interested me, so this seemed like a good opportunity to learn the process, really."

Dickinson is not the first rocker to be inspired by Crowley, who died in 1947. LED ZEPPELIN guitarist Jimmy Page was a big collector of Crowley's writings and even bought his Scottish estate. OZZY OSBOURNE, meanwhile, eulogized him in the song "Mr. Crowley".

Reuters last year posted a five-minute interview with Bruce Dickinson about "Chemical Wedding".
